Photodynamic therapy - Photodynamic therapy (PDT), developed at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in the 1970's, is a ternary treatment for cancer involving three key components: a photosensitizer, light, and tissue oxygen. It is also being investigated for treatment of psoriasis and acne, and is an approved treatment for wet macular degeneration.

Cytoluminescent therapy - Cytoluminescent Therapy is a proposed form of Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) characterized by a photosensitiser that is supposedly eliminated from normal tissue but selectively accumulated in neoplastic and dysplastic tissue. This is followed by whole body irradiation with light of the specific wave length which activates the photosensitiser.

Photosensitizer - A photosensitizer is a chemical compound, used in the Photodynamic Therapy of cancers, that can be excited by light of a specific wavelength. This excitation uses visible or near-infrared light.

Levulan - Levulan photodynamic therapy is a treatment method for certain skin conditions developed by Dusa Pharmaceuticals. The active ingredient is δ-aminolevulinic acid (ALA).
